A one-woman project began by Iféoluwa Babalola in 2006 with the release of the “Shadows EP”. The EP was a diy home recording she wrote, produced, recorded, performed and released on her indie label I EAT SOULS.
A self financed, successful U.S mini-tour followed in 2008.
Some NYC venues played since then: Santos Party House, Pianos, Cameo Gallery, Willie Mae Rock Camp for Girls showcase, Northside Festival, Death by Audio where The WNS played a cd release show for seminal punk/no wave record label ROIR. Also played somewhat regularly in D.C. and Philadelphia.
Moved to Berlin, Germany in 2009.
Played 2 of the cities most renowned music venues: NBI (sharing the stage with former Elastica bassist-turned DJ, Sheila Chipperfield) and Festsaal Kreuzberg (as the opening act for dance-punk band !!!) Also provided background vocals for !!! on their current album “Strange Weather, Isn’t It?”
In 2010, released 2nd EP, “The Scene Is Dead (A New Beginning)” on I EAT SOULS in conjunction with a free download single and self produced music video “Big Strong White Man” which has received over 4,000 youtube hits thus far.
While in Europe, played Barcelona and Prague, receiving a full page write-up as an editors pick in Prague’s largest English language newspaper.
Iféoluwa Babalola currently lives between NYC and Berlin, Germany and is recording her full length debut album “The Scene Is Dead. A release date is TBD. She has also launched her own production company, 1234Films, and will write, direct and produce music videos, documentaries and narrative films.
